The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) has proposed significant changes to the UK’s immigration system, recommending the replacement of the Shortage Occupation List (SOL) with an Immigration Salary List (ISL), raising salary thresholds for skilled workers, and altering the eligibility criteria for various job roles. These recommendations, which are under government review, aim to streamline the system and are set to take effect in April 2024.
