This is our final update covering changes in immigration law implemented
or announced by the Trump Administration in January 2020. Previous articles include:

  • Expanding the “travel ban” to more countries for certain persons
  • Implementation of the “public charge” rule after the U.S. Supreme Court allowed this to go forward
  • Suspending entry of foreign nationals who have visited China 14 days preceding their entry

This final update is important for employers – the issuance of a new I-9 form, which is the focus of this article.

New I-9

U.S. Customs and Immigration Services has released a new I-9 form. The form is now available for use and employers must begin using the new form by May 1, 2020.  The old version (07/17/17 date) may continue to be used until April 30.
